Museo Demo-etnoantropologico e dell’Olio d’oliva

The Demo-ethnoanthropological and Olive Oil Museum, which is part of the Civic Museum of Ricadi, extended in 5 different locations in the city, was set up at the former Olive Oil mill “Marcello Sculco”, nineteenth-century building, granted on loan for use to the Municipality by Sculco’s Family.

The museum also includes the collection to “peasant civilization”, purchased by the Municipality of Ricadi.

The building has always been used as Olive Oil mill, first to animal traction, then with diesel equipment and then to electricity, during the middle of the last century, by electricity.

All machinery, grinding wheels, presses and motors are present inside the main building together with many objects in use during production and various containers.

A part of the main building is exposed different tools for working the land and agricultural products from small objects such as hoes and scythes to wooden plows, iron plows, harrows.

From the courtyard behind, where other finds are exhibited, you enter a small room in “breste” (raw earth bricks) and an adjacent building where objects for the processing of textile fibers (hemp, linen, broom and wool) and everyday use are exhibited.
