Museo archeologico e paleontologico

The Archaeological and Paleontological Museum, which is part of the Civic Museum of Ricadi, extended in 5 different locations in the city, is located at the “Fazzari” palace in the hamlet of Santa Domenica.

It houses the archaeological and paleontological collections.

The latter consists of fossil remains of fauna: fish, marine and terrestrial mammals. Among the widespread invertebrates are the clypeasters; and in addition to the marine vertebrates (sirenii, whales, dolphins) are represented the terrestrial ones (rhinoceroses, bovids, giraffidas).

IThe archaeological route offers an excursus of the human presence of Monte Poro starting from the Bronze Age(tombs in Bagneria) and Iron (necropolis of Torre Galli);

the Greek era (inhabited by Torre Santa Maria);

until the Roman age, with the exhibition of amphorae and Kadoi (pitch containers)

from the archaeological deposit of the bay of Santa Maria.
